Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Deputy Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railway Company for Operation Affairs Hossein Ashouri said the summit aims at developing rail cooperation among countries of Central Asia and Europe.
He went on to enumerate other centerpieces of Tehran summit including development of international transport in the region and making necessary arrangements for passage of Central Asian wagons from Iran to Turkey and Europe.
“Turkey and European states hold particular rail regulations different from those of Central Asian countries,” underlined the official asserting “given that Iran complies with both sets of regulations, Iranian railroads could serve as a bridge connecting Central Asia to Turkey and Europe.”
“The first round of negotiations has begun today in order to prepare draft of a cooperation agreement between the five countries,” underscored the railway official expressing hope that rail transit and fright will increase in the region.
